Conference on Aristoxenus – September 10th-12th, 2009

Dear SAGP Colleagues,

This is a reminder that Project Theophrastus and DePauw University are sponsoring a conference on Aristoxenus, September 10-12, 2009. The conference will consider all aspects of Aristoxenus’ work including his music theory and other work on music and dance, his psychology, his work as a biographer, including his biographies of Socrates, Plato and Pythagoras, and his other writings on the Pythagoreans.

The program is set and includes papers by Andrew Barker, John Dillon, Stefan Schorn, Steve White, Steve Strange, Leonid Zhmud, Antonella Provenza, David Creese, Elisabetta Matelli, Antonella Provenza, Tim Power and Carl Huffman.

Note that you need to make reservations at the hotel by August 9 in order to get the conference rate. If you do plan to attend please contact Carl Huffman at cahuff@depauw.edu so that arrangements can be made about meals.
